Stills from the book "Square Dance Manual" by Charles Chilton 1953

Circles are a dance element used in various dance genres and styles, but folk dances, like no other, are distinguished by their abundance. Circles are plentiful in folk dances all over the world. The circle is a transcendental symbol of spirituality and divinity. Folk dances also claim to be such.

Suk Suk asks whether authentic folk dancers are really authentic and really folk.
